Evolution concerns us all. At one point or another, we have all wondered where we and the various species that surround us come from. How did the plants in our garden come about? How did humans evolve? Does a uniquely human trait such as language evolve? And why do certain species go extinct while others flourish? Indeed, just how is it, that life evolves?

During the Lisbon Evolution Day, we are gathering both international and Portuguese experts who will answer some of these questions for you and your children, in non-technical terms.

We want to welcome You, the Public, to join us on Saturday, March 16th, 2013 for the following 2 events we’re organizing:

  1. From 16h-19h: Public Conference “Beyond Darwin: Recent Advances in the Evolutionary Sciences” [See online here]
  2. From 15h-17h: Workshops on Evolution for 10-13 year old Teenagers [see photos in our Facebook Page]

Languages of the events are both English for the Public Conference, and Portuguese for the Teenagers.

The Lisbon Evolution Day is organized by the new Lisbon Applied Evolutionary Epistemology Lab  of the Centre for Philosophy of Science http://cfcul.fc.ul.pt of the University of Lisbon, in collaboration with Ciência Viva  and with the support of the American John Templeton Foundation.
